Zanthoxylum bungeanum fruit extract: Zanthalene® is a natural, Ecocert-approved active ingredient derived from the fruit peels of Zanthoxylum Bungeanum or Pepper from Sichuan. The alkylamides are responsible for the soothing and anti-itching effect because, they basically block certain synaptic processes, which cause both burning/inflammation and hence the soothing action, and muscle tension and hence the skin relaxing action, (in fact, an immediate lifting action on the eye area has been clinically documented). The efficacy of the extract is at its maximum after about 30 minutes and is still evident, although weakened, 120 minutes after application.
